Their uplifting shows, peppered with humour, overflowing with energy and charged with emotion, never fail to bring joy to audiences.
Founded 2000, Kleztory embodies with passion and virtuosity the music originating from Eastern European shtetlech—small Eastern European villages or ghettos in Yiddish. Like the music they perform with brio, Kleztory is a rich mosaic of cultures and musical orientations (Russian, Québécois, Canadian), with different training (conservatory, self-taught) and diverse musical sensibilities (classical, contemporary, jazz, blues, traditional, country and folk).
Uniting their talents, the musicians play with emotion and virtuosity in the true spirit of klezmer music. Through innovative, yet respectful arrangements of original compositions, Kleztory has forged a unique and authentic musical journey and received acclaim for their electrifying performances.
A real gift for these challenging times!

PRESS
“…Most of us have experienced klezmer music, often as vibrant dance music but klezmer is a much broader tradition that ranges from breakneck dances to poignant laments. Couple this with the Kleztory’s occasional excursions to the outer reaches of jazz and other styles and you have an album that shows this music at its finest...”
“… it is very impressive how they can switch so seamlessly from individual improvisation within the part, to playing with such great discipline in unison passages, or in harmony… High-spirited, thoroughly entertaining and well-recorded.”
“…The collection offers so much to the discerning music lover: a door to a world you will not regret entering. 'Momentum' showcases the diversity, experience and virtuosic playing of leader Airat Ichmouratov on his surfeit of woodwind instruments … not to be missed.”
“One of Montreal’s—and the world’s—musical treasures… Zagezundt!”
“In this internationally renowned Montreal group, the creative tension between masterful artistry and unrestrained klezmer has always animated their repertoire.”
“Klezmer is a living tradition and this album [Momentum] portrays it at its absolute best. »
