In 1997, having obtained a PhD in Mathematics in Paris, French-born Henri Oppenheim enrolled in McGill University’s Composition program in Montreal, Canada. With a strong practical background in guitar and drumming, he began to study theory, orchestration, composition and jazz guitar. Since 1999 he has concentrated exclusively on composition and on his favored instrument, the accordion. He continues to increase his musical collaborations and has been composer, arranger, musical director and accompanist. His composing activities include contemporary electro-acoustic and orchestral music, songwriting and Klezmer. In 2002 he returned to his roots when he joined Kleztory, a band in which he plays accordeon and is arranger and composer.
Henri plays a Beltuna Leader IV K accordion.
